Sardines have high values in vitamins. These fish also contain a fair amount of omega-3 fatty acids, potassium, and phosphorous. An excellent source of vitamins B12, B2, and D, ranking as one of the World's Healthiest foods.
Ingredients:
1 can of sardines in oil or water, drained
2 slices of your favorite bread
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
1 tablespoon of KRU Sauce (Mild/Hot /Original or Classic)
Squeeze lemon juice
Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato slices, red onion slices, cucumber slices, mozzarella cheese, spinach or arugula
Instructions:
Drain the sardines from the can and remove any bones if necessary. You can also mash the sardines slightly with a fork to create a spreadable consistency.
In a small bowl, mix the sardines with mayonnaise and KRU Sauce until well combined.
Season the sardine mixture with a pinch if needed. You can adjust the seasoning to your taste.
Squeeze a bit of lemon juice over the sardine mixture and stir to incorporate the flavors.
Pan Toast the slices of bread with butter if desired.
Spread the sardine mixture evenly on one slice of bread.
If using, add lettuce, tomato slices, red onion slices, cucumber slices, cheese, or fresh spinach on top of the sardine mixture.
Top with the second slice of bread to create the sandwich.
Cut the sandwich in half if preferred, and it's ready to serve.
